Wind of Change A New Album by AGNT (Ain’t Got No Time)

When the lyrics for what would become the AGNT first album, Wind of Change, were brought to the band, it seemed the most appropriate title for a band that has both seen, and is looking at, a year of new and unexpected things. It may be the biggest change, in fact, that the band itself released a full record. Written and recorded in, if you’ll excuse the pun, record time, it is a perfect reflection of the past year and the years ahead. The band began as a referendum from co-founder Matt Retz, simply messaging the other five future members that he was starting a band they were all in it. Fast forward nearly a decade later and, as band members are moving on, the band recorded the album, beginning to end, in February of 2023. The songs are all cited as written by the band, with all six members contributing.
With songs rocking like early-70’s Aerosmith (Let It Roll, Burn It Down), to the grunge of Seattle (Autumn on the Way, Second Chance) to the funk of Sly Stone and James Brown (Piece of Your Soul), the album takes you on a journey facing that titular wind of change. It’s the reliance on the band members, family, and those you call family even if not related by blood that helps you break through. As the band mates all faced tribulations, highs and lows, the album reflects all that took them there and beyond.

The album, the first by the entire band, is a stunning work by a band comprised of some of California’s most talented musicians whose divergent tastes all create a tapestry for your ears that takes you on a journey through the wind of change.

Part Hendrix rock, part punk, part Seattle meeting Buddy Guy and going into a Beck-influenced closing instrumental that is simultaneously like something Retz and Manoucheri could only describe as strictly their own. Released March 2020.
